SCIENCE IN CINEMA

SUNDAY, APRIL 26 2026

Showtime 1:00 pm

What if you could talk to animals and understand what they’re saying? In Disney and Pixar’s all-new feature film “Hoppers,” scientists have discovered how to “hop” human consciousness into lifelike robotic animals, allowing people to communicate with animals as animals! The adventure introduces Mabel, an animal lover who seizes an opportunity to use the technology, uncovering mysteries within the animal world that are beyond anything she could have imagined.

What shapes our pet's personality? While our pet's personality is shaped by a complex mix of genetics (nature) and environmental factors (nurture), could they reflect our own personality more than we might think?

Q&A with Dr. Eileen Lacey, Professor
University of California, Berkeley Department of
Integrative Biology, Museum of Vertebrate Zoology.

All patrons receive a COMPLIMENTARY POPCORN plus a raffle ticket for a chance to win custom animal-themed artwork!

CINEMABITES

MONDAY, APRIL 27, 2026

Doors open 5:00 pm / Showtime 6:00 pm

Based on Isabella Tree’s best-selling book by the same title, Wilding tells the story of a young couple, Isabella and Charlie Tree, who in the 1980s inherit Knepp, a failing, 400 year old estate. By the end of the 1990s, facts must be faced: the farm isn’t working, and they are £1.5m in debt. The land is dying, the soil reduced to sterile dirt, with plummeting biodiversity levels. Battling entrenched tradition, the couple dares to place the fate of their farm in the hands of nature, with an ambitious rewilding project inspired by the thinking of European ecologists like Frans Vera.

It is a transformation far in excess of anything anyone could have dreamed of, captured in intimate detail by five-time Emmy Award-winning documentarian David Allen and multi- BAFTA & Emmy Award-winning cinematographers Tim Cragg and Simon de Glanville.

Savor seasonal 'bites' inspired by the film and created by Stephen Barber, Executive Chef, Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch. Napa Valley wines and craft beers will be available for purchase at concessions.

Proceeds benefit St. Helena Farmers' Market. Tickets are $35 inclusive. Doors open at 5:00 pm; screening at 6:00 pm.

Stanley Kramer: Hollywood’s moral compass
As both a producer and a director, Stanley Kramer was fearless.

As an independent producer and director, he brought attention to topical social issues that most studios avoided. Director Steven Spielberg described him as an "incredibly talented visionary" and "one of our great filmmakers, not just for the art and passion he put on screen, but for the impact he has made on the conscience of the world."
